Isaac Newton

These are a few pages from his famous work, “The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy”, third English edition, 1729.  The book was originally written in Latin., And published in 1686.  Although he developed the theory of fluxions, a time based version of the calculus of today, he did not want to use it in this work, relying on geometrical arguments almost entirely, with some algebra.

The first two pages are the frontispiece and the title page, on which the date can be seen.

The pages below these are about gravitational attraction and the inverse square law.

More pages will be added in due course.
